
The Centre for Quantitative Research (Cequar) operates within the organisational structure of the Institute of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Wrocław and is oriented towards conducting research using quantitative methods in the field of social sciences, mainly in the discipline of political science and administration.
The tasks of the centre include:
> initiating and arranging cooperation with researchers affiliated with other scientific disciplines who use quantitative methods in their research;
> creating databases to be used for ongoing research;
> organising scientific conferences on the use of quantitative methods in political science and administration;
> organising workshops and training on the application of quantitative methods in political science and administration for researchers at different stages of their academic career;
> involving doctoral and undergraduate students in research and supporting research tasks and grants undertaken by them;
> supporting and promoting international cooperation;
> supporting and promoting cooperation with external stakeholders of the University of Wrocław;
> supporting and promoting efforts to develop grant applications submitted to Polish and foreign agencies;
> the conduct of fundamental research, i.e. experimental or theoretical work undertaken with a view to acquiring new knowledge of the underlying foundations of phenomena and observable facts, without any direct commercial application in mind;
> the conduct of applied research, i.e. work aimed at acquiring new knowledge and skills with a view to developing new products, processes or services or bringing about their significant improvement;
> to disseminate knowledge about quantitative methods in research in political science and administration;
